What is mold?

Molds are a natural part of the environment and can be found almost anywhere that moisture and oxygen are present.

Health Effects from Mold Exposure

Mold can have effects on your health, especially children, elderly, and others that are immunocompromised. Sneezing, headaches, red eyes, and rashes are some of the potential effects of mold. If you are concerned of mold related health issues, it is best to consult with a medical professional.

How does mold develop?

Mold is the result of water and oxygen. Contrary to popular belief, mold can grow in almost any temperature and climate. Mold can also grow quickly, within 24 to 48 hours of a surface becoming wet.

Places to Check for Mold

Common places to check for mold in your home are places where moisture can be found: bathrooms (especially with no window or fan), kitchens, crawlspaces, frequent condensation on windows, etc.

How do you test for mold?

Our InterNACHI Certified Mold Inspector will perform a number of tasks to complete their testing. Humidity, temperature, and weather conditions are recorded. A control sample is taken outside to later compare with the indoor samples. Samples will be taken inside in multiple areas, using multiple testing medias, determined on a case-by-case basis. Testing medias include: tape and swab samples (used for visible signs of potential mold growth), air-cassette samples (used for potentially airborne mold spores - musty smells, HVAC ducts).
